UCLA | DATA THEORY

Over the last three decades the availability of computing power and big data has ushered in a new era of data science defined by advanced mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Big data has transformed the sciences, engineering and even the humanities, driven by a diverse set of application settings from genomic research, logistics and transportation, commerce, and government. The Data Theory major will push students beyond the various methods of data modeling, into a deeper understanding of the statistical and mathematical foundational concepts that underlie these methods to future-proof a new generation of data scientists to lead in their fields.
