Scavenge to End all Scavenges

Working with Bruce Strong at Newhouse School of Public Communications is the opportunity of a lifetime and dream come true. Everyday is a challenge, whether shooting stills or producing multimedia. The pace at which he pushes you can drive you to insanity, or make you a stronger shooter and storyteller. The greatest challenge I'm facing is the adjustment to life as a student, and no longer a freelancer. It's surprisingly difficult to change that mindset, and alter work habits. Give it another week or two and I think I'll be in the zone. It's like figuring out anything else. I'm in a foreign country, and I need to find the McDonald's.

Our first assignment was a photo scavenger hunt to end all scavenger hunts. What Bruce emphasizes is the need to think about the adjective over the noun when approaching a story. When entering a situation, rather than searching for the obvious in front of you, instead attempt to digest the energy, emotion, and essence of the events unfolding. Here is what I came back with after a few days of shooting. Mind you, it's nowhere close to Bruce's standards...
